2010 Mission Trip to the Dominican Republic

 

    Men and women, young and old, the volunteers who have participated in mission trips to the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Central America have had experiences of a lifetime.  

 

   Interested in joining a group?   We invite you to this years informational meetings at St. Therese parish in Appleton, 213 E. Wisconsin Avenue.

          * enter through the bell-tower doors, and down the stairs

 

   At our first meeting in September we will give a brief over-view of this years sites and projects and respond to any concerns and questions that you have. 

 

   What do you need besides a willing and adventurous spirit?

 

1.   A valid USA passport.

2.   Monies to cover your travel expenses; these have averaged around

          $800 / $900 in the past.

3.   A willingness to help raise funds for the January 2010 projects in your

      home parish and amongst family and friends.

 

*    The tentative dates for 2010 are January 10 - 22.

 

*    Tentative travel plans:

   + leaving on a Sunday is less expensive than Monday

   + best airfares are from Chicago (bus from Appleton to Ohare Airport)

   + best connections and arrival time is flying Delta

   + we purchase our tickets as a group, directly with Delta

 

*   Health concerns ?  

     Always a good idea to consult with your doctor.

     No vaccinations required for the areas we will be visiting …some folks have gotten them; again, your doctor can advise you.  The sites we will be visiting in the Dominican Republic are near the Haitian border …malaria might be a concern for some.

Dominican Republic Mission Trip

     We are starting to plan our mission trip for January of 2010;   join us in helping communities build a chapel in Elías Piña or a new parish church in Vallejuelo.   Each volunteer pays their own expenses and helps in raising funds for the building projects; more information and planning at our trip meetings: 6:30 pm, Sept. 17 and Oct. 15 at St. Therese parish, Appleton.

100% of donations for our trip are used solely for the construction projects in the missions.
